Why wont IR Shell on my psp work?

Ok soo i just got my psp modded. Its a psp phat 1000 model. It has system software 5.00 M33-6 and I downloaded the ir shell 4.9 because I read that its compatible with my system software I guess. Anyways the IR Shell shows up on my memory stick but when I go into the IR Shell Nothing comes up it just stays a black screen like its loading forever. Do I have to patch it or something ? and if I do have to patch it, how do I do that ? could someone give me a link or instructions on what i should do or info about my problem.
