Violin with a funnel?

In a movie I once saw there was a man playing the violin. The special thing with this violin was that there was a funnel attached to it so that the sound could be enhanced (I don't think funnel is the correct english word to use, what I mean is the "funnel looking thing" attached to really old gramophones where the sound comes out :) ). What's the name of this special violin?
