I hate when my lips are RED?

I absolutely hate it when my lips are discolored/red...It is my biggest pet peeve possible. Most of the time I will re apply burts bees lip chap to keep them moist, and put clinique foundation on my lips to keep them a light, creamy color that I like. What else can I do to help my lips stay a light color for longer?
